The Liechtenstein company that started life in 1941 as a small engineering firm long since became a global corporation in construction technology. Hilti remains tied to its original location in Schaan.
Is that old or young? asked Michael Hilti on the occasion of the construction technology corporations 75th anniversary. The son of company co-founder, Martin Hilti, explained that Hilti came to life in 1941 in a garage in Schaan. Still family-owned, the company has never been younger and more dynamic than today, he said.
A statement released to celebrate the 75-year jubilee spoke of a success story characterised by regeneration and change, as well as consistency and continuity. The key to this success, according to Hilti, has been the direct link to customers that it has worked on since it launched.
Launched in 1941 to manufacture engine components, lighters and cake mixers, Hilti was active in more than 30 countries by 1962. Today, the construction technology corporation employs some 23,000 people worldwide and has been named one of the best multinational employers multiple times.
Hilti has a good foundation to build on to continue to be successful, according to board member Michael Hilti. Among the reasons for expecting success in the future, he cited customer proximity, innovation and a first-class portfolio, as well as a solid ownership structure and a strategy based on sustainable value creation. But above all, we have a highly professional global team that puts energy into securing the companys success, he concluded.
