Twenty-five of Liechtenstein’s biggest companies increased their revenues by 19 per cent in the first half of 2018, according to the latest economic report from the Office for Statistics. Direct exports from companies grew by 11 per cent on the previous year (excluding direct exports of goods to Switzerland), with a marked increase in exports to the US (+19.2 per cent).
Employment figures also improved in the first half of 2018: around 39,300 people were employed in Liechtenstein, representing a year-on-year increase of 3.8 per cent.
Some 60 per cent of the 43 companies from the industrial and construction sectors surveyed for the study assessed their general situation at the end of the second quarter as good, and the rest as satisfactory and expressed optimism about the future.
The Office for Statistics also provided information on developments in the financial sector. Client assets managed by Liechtenstein’s three largest banking groups amounted to 303.3 billion in mid-2018, 10.7 per cent higher than in the same period last year.
