Medicnova Privatklinik AG is currently under construction in Liechtenstein. As of 2017, it will begin a cross-border regional cooperation with the St. Gallen Hospital Region Rheintal Werdenberg Sarganserland (SR RWS).
The cooperation agreement provides the CHF 50-million project Medicnova access to the nearby hospital in Grabs, ensuring emergency and intensive care, according to a press release. The agreement also includes cooperation in the fields of procurement, logistics and training. Attending physician agreements were also signed between the founders of Medicnova and the Hospital Region. However, talks on cooperating with the National Hospital Liechtenstein were unsuccessful.
The Medicnova clinic in Bendern in Liechtenstein is currently under construction. It is expected to open its doors in early 2017 and will operate under an attending physicians model. The attending physicians include eight doctors from Liechtenstein, who are also the founders of the clinic operating company. As a specialised surgical clinic, Medicnova will focus on orthopaedics, vascular surgery, plastic surgery, urology and anaesthesiology, states the press release.
The Hospital Region Rheintal Werdenberg Sarganserland offers primary care at hospitals in Altstätten, Grabs and Walenstadt. Around 25 per cent of the patients at the hospital in Grabs come from Liechtenstein. Agreements already exist between the Hospital District and the Principality of Liechtenstein, whereby citizens of Liechtenstein are treated the same as residents of the canton of St.Gallen.
